Process

After many trials and errors, I turned to Claude AI for coding. Since I had limited coding experience and my logic-based systems were slow, laggy, or unreliable, AI became the most effective solution. I organized my project and prepared the necessary references, then worked with AI to develop the code.

Learning

I learned MediaPipe through Torin Blankensmith’s tutorial, with additional guidance from my wonderful teacher, Kelly Warner. I started with basic hand tracking and gradually built up to developing my own project.

Conclusion

Everything in life is a learning curve, and that’s what makes it all the more fun! Please remember to save your files—this is me after frantically saving mine.  I hope you enjoyed!

Design

Inspired by the concept of doors and their representation in media as gateways to different dimensions, I decided to explore this idea through three distinct style frames. Each doorframe represents a different visual direction that could be animated and transitioned between.

What is Touchdesigner?

TouchDesigner, developed by Derivative, enables real-time interactive visuals. MediaPipe hand-tracking tools by Torin Blankensmith (@blankensmithing) and Dom Scott (@domscottart) enable hand-tracking interactions and more.

INTERACTIVIY DOORS

This project explores TouchDesigner and MediaPipe while learning to build an interactive experience from scratch. The concept is simple: rotate the door knob with a hand movement to trigger a transition through the doors.
